Quick glance through NADA - I actually have a small amount of positive equity in my Abarth!
I did buy it used, so I didn’t take the initial depreciation hit. I feel like I’ve achieved the impossible...though I put more in to it than I have equity so it’s a net loss. No one should be surprised there.

Believing in Nashville for your time

Wait until you pay it off, that’s an even better feeling.

Nashville is pretty believable IMO.

How do you like the Abarth overall? Now that they are getting dangerously close to $10k, I’m thinking it would be a cool thing to have as a third car when the Subarus are paid off (should be in 2018). I’m especially interested in the cabrio - it checked the convertible box my wife and daughter want without being all-out roadster. How is the top (I know you had it replaced once...)?

Don’t let your positive equity distract you from the fact that Tennessee blew a 34-31 lead over Vanderbilt.

The Abarth was immediately in the top 10 must have cars when I drove a new model back when they originally came out. I KNEW I had to have one, one day. It was a purchase from the heart so I expect poor financial results from it in the end. The small amount of equity now is just a pleasant surprise. That’s not what you’re asking though.

The top being replaced was a very one off issue. I would highly recommend driving one with the top down to make sure you’re okay with the lack of rearward visibility. You seriously see nothing out the back with it down. Doesn’t bother me, but does pester others. Otherwise, the ease of the top is great. Having the cabrio plus the beats audio w/ sub does really limit your trunk space. As in, overhead bin size luggage only. Really only one of those and a small duffel bag fits in the trunk, just enough for a weekend getaway.
It wasn’t a requirement for me, but I’m very happy I found a cabrio. You also said wife and daughter, that’s a total of 3 people. While there are “four” seats in the 500, the back seat is not roomy. In fact it’s more of just a bench for stuff. I’ve had four people in it and the valet laughed hysterically when we all piled out of the clown car.

Overall as a daily driver, I still love it as much as I did day one. It’s so much fun to drive. I regularly get compliments on my “little red car.” There isn’t a real Fiat dealer in the Nashville area so it’s relatively unusual to see one. The exhaust noises are the best.
The big winner to me, it continues to put a smile on my face.

will most likely sell or trade it before then, but will potentially buy something that has no car note. That is a good feeling too

Wait really? I’ve been tossing around the idea of going to the ecoboost mustang next. It hasn’t been on my radar until I started looking at the potential in the 2.3 ecoboost. It’s crazy! Makes me wish we opted for it in my wife’s MKC

To go along with TysMagic’s great response, I recently purchased a 2013 Abarth Cabrio w/ 4k miles in October. Red leather interior, convenience package (auto climate control, heated seats, backup sensors), non-Beats audio (wish I had it, stock stereo is traaaaaash). It’s literally my only car in the winter time (other car is a 79 VW Super Beetle, always stored - never seen winter!), so it’s my DD, my people hauler, my grocery runner, my shit hauler, etc. I live in MN and put Blizzaks on it and have yet to have any issues whatsoever with traction. On the summer tires it is an absolute riot, especially with the top down so you can hear the pops and burbles of the exhaust.

Overall I love the car - the noises it makes and the reactions you get on a daily basis never cease to bring a smile to my face. I should mention I’m a single 23 year-old that buses to and from work every day, so I might not be the best DD example, but if you’re considering it as a 3rd car, there’s really no reason not to check one of these out!

ETA: chicks really dig this car too. Like, a lot.
